Pada linimasa akun Twitter tersebut terlihat pesan peringatan yang ditujukan pada tentara-tentara Amerika. Peretas juga mengirim tweet berbagai dokumen berisi informasi mengenai pejabat militer AS.

Akun Twitter dan YouTube milik Pusat Komando Militer AS (US CENTCOM) diambil alih oleh peretas yang mengaku sebagai pendukung kelompok Negara Islam (ISIS).

Pada linimasa akun Twitter tersebut, Senin (12/1) terlihat pesan peringatan yang ditujukan pada tentara-tentara Amerika. "Kami datang, waspadalah. ISIS."

Peretas juga mengirim tweet-tweet berisikan foto-foto dokumen yang tampaknya berisikan daftar nomor telepon, alamat email dan alamat rumah puluhan pejabat militer Amerika Serikat.

Pejabat CENTCOM mengkonfirmasikan kepada VOA bahwa akun Twitter dan YouTube tersebut diserang dan mereka mengambil "langkah-langkah yang seharusnya untuk mengatasi hal ini."

Akun ini juga membocorkan apa yang tampaknya adalah peta China dan Korea Utara. Keaslian maupun signifikansi dokumen-dokumen tersebut tidak dapat dikonfirmasikan, tapi sebagian dari materi yang dibocorkan sudah tersedia di internet sebelumnya dan tampaknya bukan informasi yang sensitif.

CENTCOM berbasis di Markas Angkatan Udara MacDill di Tampa, Florida, bertanggung jawab atas operasi militer Amerika di Timur Tengah dan Asia Tengah. Pusat komando ini mengawasi berlangsungnya perang di Irak dan Afghanistan dan mengelola serangan udara Amerika Serikat terhadap posisi ISIS di Irak dan Suriah.
