Sebagian besar jenazah yang diberangkatkan ke Kharkiv, Ukraina, masih diproses di sana dan akan disusulkan ke Belanda pada penerbangan-penerbangan berikutnya.

Peti-peti jenazah korban pesawat Malaysia Airlines MH17 diterbangkan ke Belanda untuk diidentifikasi. Dalam sebuah upacara singkat namun khidmat di Kharkiv, Ukraina, diplomat Belanda Hans Docter berbicara mengenai para korban.

"Hari ini perjalanan Anda pulang dimulai. Ini masih akan menjadi perjalanan yang panjang. Ada proses identifikasi yang sulit untuk dilalui yang akan memakan waktu," ujarnya.

Lebih dari separuh jumlah penumpang dalam penerbangan dari Amsterdam ke Kuala Lumpur adalah warga negara Belanda, dan Belanda kini memimpin penyelidikan internasional atas kasus ini.

Sebagian besar jenazah yang diberangkatkan ke Kharkiv dengan kereta api pada hari Selasa, masih diproses di sana dan akan disusulkan ke Belanda pada penerbangan-penerbangan berikutnya. Belum dapat dipastikan apakah kubu separatis Ukraina telah menyerahkan ke-298 jenazah, namun setidaknya sebagian besar telah diterima untuk proses identifikasi.
